About Me
I was twelve years old on a humanitarian trip to India to build an orphanage when I decided I wanted to become a physician. I decided at that time that I was going to dedicate my life to helping other people in need. Since then, I have endeavored to be the best possible student, clinician, and surgeon I could be so my patients would receive the best possible care they deserve.
My love for surgery came to life during my first year medical school anatomy course. The anatomy of the face and head stood out as particularly challenging and intriguing. There were so many vital structures in such a small space. I loved it! I set my sights on becoming a facial plastic surgeon, which would allow me to combine an advanced understanding of the facial anatomy with an appreciation and desire for artistic creation.
After graduating from medical school in Colorado in 2006 I completed a residency in ophthalmology at the University of North Carolina. I served as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy practicing general ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery in San Diego. David Russell
Dr. David T. Russell, Professor of Insurance and Finance, received his Ph.D. in Risk Management and Insurance from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School in 1997. He earned an A.B. in Economics cum laude from Amherst College. He joined CSUN in 2002 after teaching at the Katie Insurance School at Illinois State University. Dr. Russell has two books on insurance and has published in several journals, including the Journal of Insurance Issues, Journal of Risk Finance, Journal of Insurance Regulation, Risk and Insurance Management Review, and others. His current research interests include alternative risk transfer mechanisms, insurance company service quality, retirement savings and insurance agent compensation. He is a member of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, the American Risk and Insurance Association, and the Western Risk and Insurance Association. Dr. Russell currently serves as the director of the CSUN Center for Risk Management and Insurance.
He serves on the board of the California El Camino Chapter of CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters). In addition, he provides consulting services to insurers, financial advisory clients and parties in need of litigation support services.
