But, much of what is in that book is also covered by "Jerry Lewis in Person." If I were to choose between these two books, I'd say read Dean and Me. I read it and cried at the end even though you know what's coming.
This book covered their career, Jerry's early life, born to a pair of show biz vaudevillian parents who left him with his grandmother or other relatives much of the time while they traveled the Borscht circuit. This led to a lifelong anxiety about being alone, and left behind.
An interesting look at the comedian, what makes him tick, what made them so great together. He also professes his love for Dean Martin in both these books, and it feels real.
