    Stanley M. Isaacs (1882-1962), a New York City politician, was born in Manhattan and lived in the borough all his life. After graduation from Columbia College and New York Law School, he was admitted to the Bar in 1905; practiced law as a member of the firm of M. S. and I. S. Isaacs for fifteen years; and thereafter, until 1938, was associated with Edgar A. Levy in real estate, building and investments. In 1910 Isaacs married Edith Somborn, with whom he had two children: Helen E. and Myron S. During the First World War Isaacs was chairman of Local Board #164, and later active in the office of the Secretary of War on Labor Problems. He was elected President of the Borough of Manhattan in 1937, serving for a full term of four years. In 1941 he was elected Member of the City Council, leading all the Anti-Tammany candidates in Manhattan. Isaacs held this post until the time of his death 20 years later.
