      With her striking dark looks and an enduringly youthful prettiness, Shelly Cole kickstarted her career playing characters in the throes of their younger days. Small parts in popular TV shows such as the legal drama "Boston Public" () and medical procedural "ER" () helped get her noticed. Before long, she advanced to her first significant recurring role, in the highly successful, teenage female-friendly saga "Gilmore Girls" (). For four seasons, Cole played the spacey Madeline Lynn, a student at the elite Chilton Prep. Cole then worked steadily on TV, with guest appearances on some of the era's most well-known series, including the durable crime-of-the-week procedural "CSI: NY" () and the medical crisis drama "House M.D." (). Her youthful appearance also served her well in the film world.
